The Shard,[a] also known as the Shard London Bridge[12] and formerly London Bridge Tower,[13] is a 72-storey pyramid-shaped mixed-use development supertall skyscraper designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano in Southwark, London, which forms part of The Shard Quarter development. Standing at 309.6 metres (1,016 ft), The Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom and the seventh tallest building in Europe.
